Banned Books Week
I was skulking around IMDB, looking up movies based on books, when I discovered there are A LOT of movies in some stage of production that we have here in the SRMS Library!
39 Clues by Rick Riordan
Okay, we don’t have this book yet, but we will soon. And it’s already optioned for a film version. Wow.
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo
If you loved The Tale of Despereaux or Because of Winn Dixie, you will love this one too!
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi
No really. I’m not kidding.
The Five Ancestors by Jeff Stone
A really popular series, especially with the Manga set, even though it’s not a graphic novel.
The Invention of Hugo Cabret
I’m still not sure about this one…all of the beautiful drawings will lose something in translation, I think.
The Game of Sunken Places
A Lone Star selection some years ago. If you liked Jumanji, you’ll LOVE this!
Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Freaky.
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libby Bray
Historical fiction is cool again!
Mostly Ghostly
Because R.L. Stine isn’t going away.
And I’m not even going into the next Harry Potter or the Lightning Thief movies coming up. It’s a good time to be a kid, eh?
Welcome back Raiders! We are looking forward to a GREAT new year!
I’m ready to start buying new books! Does anyone have any suggestions? I already know I need more copies of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, and the new Christopher Paolini, Brisingr, and the new Rick Riordan, The 39 Clues - what else?

I tried to post more pics, but this is new to me and so I’m having a hard time.
If you came to the presentation, what was your favorite part? If you didn’t, would you like to see more authors visit Rayburn? Who?
Dig the new blog! I’m hoping to be able to post some video, audio, and pictures to this new site, and I expect a lot more participation! (Anime people - I get it! Please no more comments about buying anime books! No mas dinero!)
